I am just going to get to the point our good friends at ProFootBallTalk.com had a nice story about how Reggie Bush is working hard this off season. Frankly I don't care at this point he is what he is an average running back, but explosive all around player when he is healthy. All I want to do is post more pictures of Kim Kardashian and this gives me an excuse. So here are your choices. You can click on the link below to get to the PFT story or you can keep scrolling down and see more the lovely Miss Kardashian. You make the call.
I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" is a new reality show coming to NBC this summer which drops celebrities into the heart of the jungle to face fun and comedic challenges designed to test their survival skills -- and John Salley is one of the competitors!
America is the puppet master, controlling their favorite celebrities by putting them into challenges and tasks to win food, supplies and luxury items. In each episode, friendships will be tested, hilarity will ensue and viewers will decide which celebrities stay or go. The last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning a substantial cash prize for their favorite charity.
I met this girl back when I was in my early 20's I can't remember her name, but that is irrelevant to the story. I was home for the summer from The Ohio State University and like any young guy I was looking to hook up with as many young ladies as I could. I was trying to get over a break up so you could say my "Pimp Focus" at the time wasn't strong.
I met this girl at the zoo of all places and trust me when I tell you this she was doing me a favor by talking to me. This was definitely an upgrade. Face was beautiful, body was outstanding, she was smart, she was funny and just overall a very cool person.
I was an underdog in the relationship. I had the talent to be a #2 seed, but multiple factors had dropped me down to a #7 seed. She was a strong #2 seed, but I convinced myself I could pull the upset.
You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? Well this picture can only be described in one word:
HILARIOUS
A lot of the things you hear about Allen Iverson aren't true, but pretty much everything you have heard about him in Detroit has been true. With that being said this was a bit harsh by the ABC Crew but for some reason I can not stop laughing at it.
I love the way they even included turnovers and Billups is almost beating Iverson in that as well.
Two nights, two NFL Draft parties & BlackSportsOnline reporter Corey Parsons was on the scene. Here is some inside information from Mr. Parsons on the Official ESPN The Magazine Draft Party & the Official NFL Draft Classic party:
2009 ESPN Magazine Draft Party:
The 6th annual ESPN party was held on Friday the 24th in NYC at ESPACE and featured DJ Spinderella and a live performance from Fabolous. Corey was impressed by the ESPN party:
"Say what you want to about the WWL but they know how to throw a party."
I was on Twitter last night while the fight was going on (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline) and after the 12th round someone sent me a Tweet asking me what I thought of Jermain Taylor here was my answer:
"If Jermain Taylor opened a 7-11 he would close at 10pm"
Jermaine Taylor is one of the greatest 1-6th round fighters of all time and one of the worst 6-12th round fighters of all time.
His fight with Carl Froch provided you with all the evidence you need of why Taylor has never reached his full potential. This fight should have been over and it should have been over early. Taylor was dropping bombs on Froch and he was the first fighter to drop Froch ever, but similar to his first fight with Kelly Pavlik he couldn't finish the deal.
When I talk about the NBA I always talk about the difference between players with a "Serial Killer" mentality and those who do not. It is the difference between a Dwyane Wade and a Vince Carter. Taylor does not have that "serial killer" mentality. Taylor is extremely talented, but when you have a man hurt you have to put them away because if not it will come back to haunt you.
It isn't a fair comparison. Two different players many years apart one trying to cement his legacy the other trying to begin his. With that being said it is great water cooler debate on who is the best player in the league. There isn't a right or wrong answer but this creative spot from Vitamin Water lets you know how hot the debate is.
Feel free to let us know who you think is the best and you can also join the debate on Facebook:
With the NFL Draft about 24 hours away. We will be providing you with links from around the web of the latest draft news and rumors. This will be updated frequently so be sure to check in throughout the day.
Also I will Twitter live coverage of the Draft tomorrow starting at 3pm Eastern:
Honestly sometimes when I am watching sports I am doing a lot of different things. Twittering (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline), working on the site, texting, breaking stories, Bed Gammon and downloading..well..you don't need to know what I am downloading, but you get my point.
Every once and awhile I will see something and it seriously takes me aback. Yesterday evening was one of those times. I am watching the Nuggets vs. Hornets. The Nuggets were handling the Hornets pretty easily so I am half way watching when I see Kenyon Martin.
I understand that it isn't unusual for an NBA player to be Tatted up, but Kenyon Martin has a bit of an unusual tattoo. You don't see many men with two big red lips tattooed on their neck. To be honest it is a bit disturbing, so I did a little research and here is what I found out courtesy of Sodahead.com:
"The mystery of Kenyon Martin's neck tattoo of a red lipstick kiss has been solved! No, K-Mart didn't lose a bet or anything. The "lips" tattoo is for his girlfriend Trina, a Miami rapper. Denver Nuggets power forward Kenyon Martin says that he has been thinking of getting the tattoo for a while, but he doesn't sound very excited about it."
Mock drafts are dumb. Similar to instant draft analysis which are also dumb. Then again Mel Kiper Jr has become a multiple millionaire because of them so maybe I shouldn't be such a cynic.
Speaking of Mel let me tell you a little story. A lot of people ask how I came up with the title "Bona Fide Sports Expert". Many people thinks it makes me sound arrogant and egotistical which is all true, but not because of the name. The name is an inside joke that only a few people know about, but I am about to share with you. We started BSO around the same time of the NFL Draft in 05 (damn we have an anniversary coming up). I was sitting around with some friends watching the draft and every time Mel Kiper would come on the screen he would be introduced as:
"Mel Kiper Jr. Draft Expert"
Now Mel has a lot of knowledge about that draft but to be honest his guess on player evaluation is as good as anyone else in the world. It is just an educated guess. My homie Syko Red said I should have a title too and I jokingly said:
"Sure I will be Robert Littal Bona Fide Sports Expert"
And the legend was born. Here is the official 2009 BSO NFL Mock Draft with very limited insight because I am just guessing like everyone else.
Also check out MidwestSportsFans.com Historical Analysis on why drafting a Junior QB is not the greatest idea.
The Lions went 0-16 last year but didn't change their GM so do you really think they are going to make the proper choice? #1 picks should be unanimous especially quarterbacks. Half the league thinks Sanchez is better and he only started 16 games. What does that say about Stafford?
2- Saint Louis Rams: Baylor T Jason Smith
Orlando Pace is gone and even with him they couldn't protect the QB. Easy choice.
3- Kansas City Chiefs: Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry
The kid just makes plays all over the field. Safest pick in the draft.
4- Seattle Seahawks: USC QB Mark Sanchez
Matt Hasslebeck is on his last leg. Boom or bust for Sanchez.
5- Cleveland Browns: Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree
Unlike Braylon Edwards who will be traded Crabtree can hold on to the ball.
My earliest memory of the "The Superstars" was Walter Peyton rocking a jheri curl and a Kangaroo sweat suit. Lets just say I think the Terrell Owens version will be a little bit different.
Here is some information about the latest incarnation of "The Superstars" from ESPN.com
Eight athletes, including Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens, will team with eight celebrities in the latest reincarnation of "The Superstars," ABC television announced Tuesday.
Owens will team with Joanna Krupa, a model who was one of Maxim magazine's Top 100 women in the world in 2006, when the competition gets underway on June 23 (8 p.m. ET, ABC). The eight teams will compete weekly in events including swimming, biking, running and kayaking. One team will be eliminated each week, leading up to the finals.
Other athletes include former major league baseball player Jeff Kent, ex-NBA star Robert Horry, Olympian Bode Miller, former world No. 1 tennis player Jennifer Capriati, WNBA star Lisa Leslie, soccer great Brandi Chastain and women's freeskiier Kristi Leskinen.
They will team with actress and former Miss USA Ali Landry (Kent), actress Estella Warren (Horry), "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" star Paige Hemmis (Miller), "Dancing With The Stars" performer Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Leskinen), actor and former North Carolina football player Dan Cortese (Leslie), former "Baywatch" and "Melrose Place" star David Charvet (Capriati) and singer Julie Inglesias, Jr. (Chastain).
So I am thinking that Joe Smith maybe started a record label or he is dabbling in some producing. I was sorely mistaken. Joe Smith is the actual rapper. He goes by the rap name Joe Beast (at least it isn't Lil Joe) and yes this is the same Joe Smith that was drafted #1 by the Golden State Warriors in 1995. The same Joe Smith who cost the Minnesota Timberwolves 14,000 draft picks. The same Joe Smith who is currently coming off the bench for the Cavaliers.
Here is the shocking part of the story you can listen to the mixtape for free here and honestly after listening to a couple of tracks it isn't that bad.
That probably says more about the state of rap music than Joe Beast skills, but I digress. If you have a few minutes give it a listen.
ESPN's new series - Homecoming with Rick Reilly -- challenges that old adage "you can't go home again." Hosted by 11-time Sportswriter of the Year Rick Reilly, the show will officially debut Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN HD/ESPN with an episode on Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers in his hometown of Raleigh, N.C. The following night, Pro Football Hall of Famer John Elway returns to his high school in Granada Hills, Calif., at 7 p.m. The shows are the first two of an eight-part series featuring one-on-one, hour-long interviews of today's top names in sports. Reilly will bring his unique style of storytelling to the series set in the athletes' hometown or formative place surrounded by friends and family they've known throughout their life.
Chris Webber was born in Detroit, Michigan. Very nice guy, very smart guy and he come across well on television. But sometimes when you come from the hood every once awhile no matter how much money you have and how refine you have become the hood comes out.
This would be one of those times. C Webb is not a fan of the Orlando Magic or I should say he is not a fan of how the Orlando Magic ignores big man Dwight Howard from time to time. The Magic blew home court advantage today to the 76ers mainly because they started jacking up threes and missing a lot of them.
Meanwhile Howard had 31 points but did not see the ball a lot down the stretch. Chris had pointed out at half time why that is a problem. While Kenny and Charles tried to be a diplomatic about it Chris let everyone especially Kenny Smith know how he felt about the situation.
His face at the 1:53 mark will forever be known as:
The Mike Tyson Documentary hits theaters on April 24th and from the early reviews it is a very compelling and eye opening documentary that will show Iron Mike in a light you have never seen before.
To continue with that theme I thought it would also be nice to show you a different side of Tyson. A lot of people know of Mike Tyson from the negative aspects of his career, but there is also another side. Mike is a boxing historian with a lot of boxing knowledge.
Here are some quotes from Mike:
On his punching power:
"Don't just hit where the opponent is, but try to drive your fist at least 3-6 inches beyond the point of contact."
This is a solid point because so many boxers don't punch through their opponents they just pitty pat them to death. A true puncher sits down on their punches and goes through their opponent's body.
Here is another point Tyson makes on punching:
"Don't punch with just the arm, but with the entire body".
There is nothing worse than seeing a boxer who just flings his arms out there. Those are normally the ones who end up on their back. Punching is about angles and using all parts of your body not just your arms.

The nice people of EbonyJet.com sent over Part 1 of 3 of their interview with the always entertaining Floyd Mayweather Sr. Here are a couple of excerpts:
Q. What makes you a unique trainer?
A. I get into my fighter's head. A lot of people call me a disciplined trainer. It's just like your kid, if you find a kid with no discipline, you find problems.
Can't nobody else do what I do. I'm fluid. I'm fluid at what I do. I'm always doing different things. I can train a fighter for 20, 30 minutes in terms of working on the pads or telling the fighter what to do on the bags, I always have something different to tell him.
It's not like I'm trying to put something new together because you can't change boxing. I know the game from now and way back. I had old coaches that know the ropes and they go quite deep. And my trainers are no longer here anymore, but what they left me, I gave it to Lil Floyd. So that's why you see he is the fighter he is.
Pacquiao, the pound for pound best because he beat a dehydrated Oscar De LaHoya? Ah, hell no. If he beat De La Hoya at 147 pounds, he should be able to beat Ricky Hatton, a 140 pounder. You about to find out that ain't about to happen.
Q. Why is the jab so instrumental?
A. The jab is the key to boxing. The jab is the main thing that opens up everything. It sets up the right hand, it sets up the hook, it sets the uppercut up...when you stick your jab out, you stop him right there. That stops everything; you have to start all over.
If everyone is really honest with themselves they know the NBA Finals will be the Cavaliers vs. Lakers, but I am going to pick every round of the playoffs because I know that is what the people want and I am being harassed on Twitter about it (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline
. 1st Round Record: N/A
Overall Record: N/A
I am literally at a loss for words right now. I am just minding my business doing my daily jog around the wonderful world of sports blogs and then BAM!!!!!
I see this story about Tupac being at the Celtics game on Yardbarker.com, so I go check the link at Barstool Sports and I just stop dead in my tracks.
I stop Twittering (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline). I stop eating my McGriddle (I know I suppose to be on the Vegas diet, but it is Friday sue me). I stop trying to set up a "No Ho" adventure for this evening. I just stop everything and for ten minutes stared at the picture.
Without question Tupac Shakur is the most known and culturally influential rapper of all time. He wasn't the best lyrically, but his impact is still being felt even thirteen years after his death. How big is Tupac? Go to any foreign country and ask them do they know Tupac and I guarantee the majority of people will say yes. He is a legend, the rap version of Elvis.
There is a whole generation of people who don't even know that John Madden was one hell of a coach. His .750 winning percentage is still the highest among coaches with at least 100 wins. The fact that people have forgotten about that should tell you what type of influence he has had in the field of broadcasting.
This is a true story I honestly don't believe that I would have the knowledge about the NFL I have today if it wasn't for the Madden Video Game.
While other ten year olds where playing with GI Joe I was breaking down coverage and sending Bo Jackson on the toss sweep. I was zone blitzing before I think it was even invented. My dad bought me Madden 92 and I haven't missed an edition since making this year when I purchase in August my 17th straight year in a row.
I have been critical of Madden over the years for his broadcasting style being a bit simplistic and a sometimes blatantly obvious, but there is no question in his prime he was one of the best ever at breaking down the game in a way that the casual fan would understand.
I hate when people sugarcoat things instead of just telling the truth. Kevin Garnett in all likelihood will miss the entire playoffs. Just this morning I have seen countless websites explain how the Celtics can win without him. Here is a dose of reality:
THE CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN OF THE CELTICS IS OVER
It's done. You can MARK THE TAPE:
THE CELTICS HAVE 0% CHANCE OF WINNING THE NBA CHAMPIONSHIP
Actually lets MARK THE TAPE part 2:
THE CELTICS HAVE 0% OF MAKING IT TO THE NBA FINALS
I respect that the Celtics won as many games as they did with KG and a lot of their lineup hurt, but there is no way in hell they can make it through the playoffs with Kevin Garnett.
They will win a round or two on sheer determination and pride, but they will be taken out by either Orlando or more likely Cleveland.
The Hollywood Reporter is stating that imprisoned NFL Quarterback is shopping for a reality show. According to the report Vick is trying to pitch a show that will portray him "repenting for his past sins". Very similar to the T.I. reality show that aired on MTV.
Of course I am always here to help so I have a few suggestions for the Vick reality show:
1- For the Love of Poochie
In this reality show Mike host up to twenty dogs in his mansion and the dogs compete (not fight) for Vick's affection until one lucky canine gains the love and affection of the former Pro Bowl quarterback.
2- The Bachelor PETA Style
In this reality Mike has his pick from twenty sexy female veterinaries from all across the world. The world will be watching to see which woman will receive the "diamond" dog collar at the end of the night.
3- The Amazing Dog Race
In this reality show Mike has to make it to a designated location before thirty pit bulls chase him down. If he can make it to the location Roger Goddell reduces his suspension by one game. If after sixteen weeks Mike has survived he will be cleared to play in the NFL again.
I use to ride the city bus to High School many years ago. My mom use to drop me off at the bus stop early in the morning and I would have to wait for a few minutes before the bus came. There was a homeless drunk who use to hang out at the bus stop. He was a harmless old man, but he had a lot of philosophies about life that I remember to this day. One day he was telling me about the decisions you make in life and he said this:
"The direction of your life is dependent on the decisions you make or the decisions people make for you. In your lifetime you will have many fork in the road decisions some big, some small but whichever way you go you will always wonder what would have happened if you went the other way."
Joe Frazier October 1st 1975 Manila, Philippines end of the 14th round. Frazier already half blind in the left eye, right eye closed completely begs his trainer Eddie Futch to let him continue the fight. Watch the video and you see a battered and bruised Frazier saying "No" and "I want him Boss" as Futch is telling him he is stopping the fight. Unbeknown to Frazier or Futch, his opponent Muhammad Ali wanted to quit. Unlike Frazier who wanted to continue Ali was begging his trainer Angelo Dundee to cut his gloves off and was refusing to come out for the 15th round.
There is only one minute between rounds. Funny how just a minute can change a life. Dundee wouldn't let Ali quit, Futch made the decision for Frazier to quit and that decision still resonates throughout the world today.
Oscar De La Hoya retired today from boxing and the question begs will he do the smart thing and never come back or will he be like every other boxing in the history of mankind and make an ill advise return?
No need to beat around the bush it is over for Oscar. It has been over for a long time. Great boxer, Hall of Fame worthy and he has made the sport a ton of money, but when the skills go they go.
In reality he should have probably retired after the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight where I thought he put in the best effort he could, but was beaten soundly. If you watch that last half of that fight it was obvious that the magic was gone.
I was one of the few that knew it would be a debacle when he fought Manny Pacquiao and what Oscar told Freddie Roach after the fight cemented the fact that even Oscar knew it was time to go. He simply said:
The reason being everyone's definition of Most Valuable Player is a little different. Of course the only person's opinion that should matter is mine. Why you ask? Because I am a BonaFide Sports Expert and I only speak the truth.
So without further ado here is my 2008-09 NBA MVP:
1- Lebron James 28.4 7.6 7.4 48.9%
The King is the only person in the league who I believe is capable of averaging a triple double, but 28 7 7 while shooting almost 50% from the field is pretty impressive.
Add on he has led his team to the best record in the league, has improved his defense tremendously & has developed not quite a "serial killer" a mentality, but at least an "assault with a deadly weapon" mentally it all adds up in my mind to what should be an unanimous selection for MVP.
Also I want to point out to the D Wade supporters who say that Lebron has the far superior team to the Heat. While I agree that the Cavs are better than the Heat, we aren't talking about the 86 Celtics here. You are talking about a team that gives quality minutes to Wally Szczerbiak for goodness sake. Lebron has taken a team filled with B- and C level players and led them to 65+ wins. Considering they will have more wins this year than the Celtics had last year with three hall of fame caliber players on their roster tells me all I need to know about The King. That is why he is my MVP.
*Sidenote*
Lebron gets a bonus MVP vote from me for helping me come up with the phrases "Pimp Focus" & "Reject Bench". If you don't know what that means Google it and you will see what I am talking about.
Five-time NBA All-Star and 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade is currently having the best regular season of his career and is in consideration to receive his first-ever season NBA MVP award. The Miami HEAT Guard is currently leading the league in scoring (30.2 ppg), and registers in the top ten in assists (8th - 7.5 apg) and steals (2nd - 2.19 spg). He will also become the first player in NBA history to have 500 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocked shots in a season (NOTE: The NBA officially began to keep track of steals and blocks in the 1973-74 season).
To celebrate this historic season, Converse will reissue a limited amount of the WADE 1. The WADE 1 was first launched before the 2005-06 NBA season and was the first-ever signature shoe for Dwyane Wade. He wore the shoe during a breakout NBA season where he led the Miami HEAT to their first-ever NBA championship and recorded the third highest scoring average in the NBA Finals with 34.7 points per game.
A lot of people wish they could get inside the mind of Kobe Bryant. A lot of people want to know what makes him tick. Darth is not a normal dude. Once that facade of him being an "All American" guy was destroy in a Colorado hotel room he became in my mind an iconic figure. All iconic figures have to deal with adversity it is what makes them memorable. It is what makes people care. Just say the name Kobe Bryant in a crowded room and you will get in a heated conversation.
I don't think anyone will ever know the "true" Kobe Bryant, but Spike Lee is going to give it a shot.
Spike Lee is doing a documentary on Kobe Bryant that is going to be shown on ESPN on May 16th. In the documentary Spike tries to give you some insight on what makes Kobe Bryant, Kobe Bryant.
In a career that has had more ups and downs than a day in the life of Jack Bauer (one of the few reasons Kobe has given for wearing the number 24) Kobe definitely has a lot he can reflect on.
In these three exclusive clips rolled into one Kobe talks about (in order):
The Masters has started and since Tigger (he hates when I call him that) is in it that means it is relevant to the mainstream media. The nice people of Gatorade given us a peak at this new animated Tiger Woods commercial for Gatorade. Once again I think their campaign people are very innovative. I like this one a lot. Here is some additional info.
Gatorade and Tiger Woods have launched the reformulated Gatorade Tiger
Focus which provides advanced hydration to help promote mental focus, as
inspired by Tiger Woods' legendary mental toughness. To support the
launch the brand has developed "Woods of Wisdom," an ad campaign created
in collaboration with Woods with an animated style that commands
attention and portrays key moments that influenced Woods and his ability
to focus and excel.
If you have been following me on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline) you know this article is way past due, but better late than never, so let's get to it.
It all started with Adam, no not Adam Vinatieri, but the original Adam that we were all spawned from.
Adam had a good life. He was chilling playing spades with God, fishing all day, racing the bunnies and what not. But because they didn't have Xbox360s and the internet back then Adam became bored.
So he went to God and was like:
"Pops you need to hook a brother up because I am tired of playing with these rabbits and elephants"
God whose "Pimp Focus" is always on point was like:
"You know something Adam you are my first born so I am going to hook you up with the original Supermodel and all I ask is you see that tree over there. Just stay away from it. It has some hood rats in it and I don't want you to be corrupted."
Adam agreed, he got the first Supermodel and her name was Eve.
Eve was fine so her and Adam were playing "Bed Gammon" constantly and in the beginning it was pretty clear that Adam was the "big dog" of the relationship.
But then Eve started something that women would do for the next million years.
She started to nag.
Eve wanted to go to the "hood". She wanted to hang out by the "gangster" tree. Adam was like:
"Nawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww we good."
But then Eve whisper something in Adam's ear about strawberries, a rope and some ML (if you can't figure it out my bad it is a family site). Next thing you know Adam was chomping on apples and our ability to walk around naked was forever lost.
You know I built this site on the strength of speaking the truth. Now the last time I did this to you I lied. I told you I was going to lie, but I still lied anyway. This time I am going to tell you the truth.
There is nothing sports related about this post. My sources tell me that Reggie Bush is in New Orleans taking part of off season workouts with the Saints, so I can't even use him as an excuse.
The fact of the matter is that I like looking at Kim Kardashian. Secondly since I am the CEO of BlackSportsOnline no one can stop me from posting it.
Part of the perks of being the boss, so here is what I am going to ask you to do. Just ignore the fact I have a crush on a female who has made a sex tape with this guy (someone please shoot me):
And is currently dating a running back that can't average more than 3.7 yards per carry. Just enjoy the pictures and I promise I will write something of more substance tomorrow.
People in general think it is easy to be a sports blogger. I mean how hard can it be? You just sit and write your opinions on sports easy as 1, 2, 3. Of course that is why many sports blogs fail miserably because it takes a special gift to break into a market that is more flooded than the rap industry and MySpace wannabe models combine.
Many athletes have tried their hand at blogging and most are horrible (there are a couple of exceptions like Chris Cooley and Agent 0). So when I find an athlete who has some talent I want to make sure he or she gets there due.
Which brings us to Martellus Bennett second year Tight End with the Dallas Cowboys. Our good friends a ProFootBallTalk.com dropped a story today that Marty B as he likes to be called had started a blog for the Dallas Morning News. At first I was skeptical, but considering Marty B was one of the stars of HBO "Hard Knocks" series I decided to give him a read and this was a part of his first entry:
I have lways been a big fan of Eminem. I think he has the 2nd best verse in the history of hip hop (his 1st verse on Jay Z's "Renegade" the best verse of all time is Inspectah Deck on Wu Tang's "Triumph"). Em has been MIA for the last couple of years staying out of the spotlight, but he is coming back with a new CD.
This is the first single off that CD. It is called "We Made You" and to my surprise it takes a shot at a famous Dallas Cowboys football player and it isn't T.O.
Jessica Simpson has always been a target of his but this time he has brought Tony Romo into the picture as well.
I think this means if he hasn't already Romo has crossover from just the sports medium into the TMZ medium and I don't know if that is a good or bad thing for him.
Black Magic, by ESPN Films in association with Shoot the Moon Productions, has been honored with The George Foster Peabody Award. The Peabodys, the oldest awards in broadcasting, are considered among the most prestigious and selective prizes in electronic media.
Directed and produced by Dan Klores, and co-produced by basketball legend and Winston-Salem State University graduate Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, Black Magic tells the story of the injustice which characterized the Civil Rights Movement in America, as told through the lives of basketball players and coaches who attended Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). Black Magic aired as a commercial free, two-part, four-hour film in primetime Sunday and Monday, March 16 and 17 on ESPN. At the time, the film was ESPN's most highly rated documentary ever.
According to the Peabody judges, "this unusually penetrating sports documentary illuminated the lives of African American basketball players and their coaches at historically black colleges and universities during the civil rights era."
Keith Clinkscales, senior vice president content development and enterprises, ESPN, said, "Winning this award is a remarkable achievement for a sports film and an honor for everyone involved in it. We are so proud of this film and to work with Dan Klores, whose vision and passion brought this important story of social change and sports to life."
The 68th Annual George Foster Peabody Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, May 18, at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York.
We are mere minutes away from the 2009 NCAA Basketball National Championship game, so what better way to kick it off with this exclusive Gatorade Commercial featuring the King of the Final Four John Wooden.
It features Coach John Wooden reciting a poem that will play over NCAA footage of MJ, DWade, Walton, Candace Parker and others.
For more innovative and cutting edge spots from Gatorade check out MissionG.com
"Be sure to check out the video for Fat Joe's new single "One" featuring Akon off of his new album J.O.S.E. 2 (Jealous Ones Still Envy). Album in stores May 19th!!!"
You might have noticed BSO as of 8:37PM Eastern Standard time yesterday leaped to #1 on The Blog Top List for Sports. Pretty big accomplishment considering 1888 blogs are being ranked at this time.
A lot of people have wished failure on me and the site, but by you guys coming here everyday you are telling the Bias Mainstream Media you have had enough of their BS and want to hear the truth.
I appreciate that and I and the staff appreciate you. So who knows how long we stay at #1 (watch five minutes after I post this it goes to #2), but for however long just know that we could not have done it without you.
Grant Hill called Shaq the 50 Cent of the NBA. I must agree because there is no one in the NBA who gives a better quote than Shaq. It took me two days to compile this list of Shaquille O'Neal Quotes and videos. So take a seat and relax and be prepared to literally "laugh out loud".
Do me a favor if you follow Shaq on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/THE_REAL_SHAQ let him know that he has bestowed the title of 50 Cent of the NBA by BlackSportsOnline.
"I'm a Shogun. You can't ask me about a low level Ninja. I still have to worry about Yao Ming, Dwight Howard."
On Lebron James PreGame Camera Shoot via Twitter:
"Uh oh people lebron didn't make up the camera skit my main man chad johnson did look http://tinyurl.com/da6w3m stop it at 55 seconds"
After hearing that Stan Van Gundy complained about Shaq flopping on a play. Shaq clearly was not amused:
"I heard his comment. Flopping to me is doing it more than one time, and I realized when I tried to take the charge, as I went down, I realized that that play reminded me of his whole coaching career. And one thing I really despise is a frontrunner, so I know for a fact that he's a master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go in the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down because of his panic. I've been there before, I've played for him."
"Flopping is playing like that your whole career. I was trying to take the charge, trying to get a call. It probably was a flop, but flopping is the wrong use of words. Flopping would describe his coaching. I'm not going to just sit abound and let nobodies take shots at me, and he is a nobody to me. And if he thinks he can get in a little press conference and take shots at me like I'm not going to [give] something back, he's got another thing coming."
"I said I flopped, but flopping is falling and crying and complaining to the ref. I tried to take a charge. The rules say when a guy comes into your chest and you fall, that's an offensive foul, and that's all I tried to do. I fell, didn't complain, he made a great move, spun and dunked it, but flopping is the wrong choice of words. So that's all I've got to say about that, but again, I despise frontrunners, I despise them. And that's what he is to me."
"Now I see why everybody who plays for him doesn't like him."
Referring to Alex Rodriguez and his steroids scandal:
"He's an honest man. He admitted it, so hopefully people will forgive him. But I really can't elaborate on something I know nothing about....That's not our thing in the NBA. Every other sport has drug testing and all that. But A-Rod is still a good guy and an honest man so hopefully he will be forgiven."
After "sealing off" his locker area with yellow crime tape and a toy police cruiser, Shaq was asked, 12 inches away, what the yellow tape was for. Shaq evidently applied the tape himself, but the Big Crime Fighter wasn't willing to divulge the story behind it.
"What yellow tape?" he said, standing about 12 inches from the yellow tape at his back, which someone pointed out. "I'm color blind; I don't see any of that."
When asked how the Miami crowd might receive him at American Airlines Arena:
"Everything is done out of respect, whether it's a cheer or a boo."
Went 1-1 in the Final Four Saturday picks. Michigan State is simply on fire right now and UNC hasn't been challenged the entire tournament.
If UNC is to win the title they are going to have to do it in hostile environment because as you can see if you watch this video of this Durrell Summers facial the building was actually rocking afterwards.
I will have a Final Four pick up tomorrow sometime I have to think it over, but for now just enjoy the dunk which has been the best of the tournament so far.
Coke Zero has just put the finishing touches on it's new "Taste the Madness" TV commercial. Airing right before tip-off of the NCAA Championship game on Monday night, the spot features videos and photos uploaded by fans to http://www.tastethemadness.com (there were over 1,000 submissions).

Here is a special sneak peek at Serena Williams G2 Everyday Athlete Commercial.
Serena Cuevas was chosen to appear alongside Williams in the new national campaign for G2, Gatorade's low cal sports drink. The G2 Everyday Athlete Search selected Cuevas among five semi-finalists, all named Serena, based on their personal stories of the role sports and exercise have played in overcoming challenges and adversities.
I was getting my twitter on with Shaq (seriously if you aren't following me now you are missing out http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline)when I got the breaking news that Plaxico Burress was released by the New York Giants.
Before I get to my thoughts our good friend Mike Florio at ProFootBallTalk.com has some good information on what led up to Plaxico being released. It appears that the Giants offered Burress a new contract that would have kept him with the team in 2009 and resolved their grievance over bonus money. Burress balked at the deal.
Secondly Mike points out that there is a probably plea deal on the table for Plax, but he is balking at doing any time in jail and is considering taking it to trial.
A couple things are going on here. First off if you didn't know that Plaxico was a bona fide idiot you know now.
I have been meaning to get around to this but once again I need to thank the readers of BlackSportsOnline for another monster month in March. After a relatively quiet February (only 28 days as well) we blew up in March with over 1.2 million page views breaking our January record of a little over 1 million page views.
We also broke records for the most unique visitors and overall visitors to the site.
Our "Q" rating is at an all time high and you will periodically see posts from sponsors, contests and well as cable channels on the site. I am also burning up the twitter airwaves (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline)
The reason that is possible is because of you. We would have not been able to break some many barriers and cross over into the mainstream sports consciousness without your support.
If I could I would take each and every one of you to Las Vegas with me to see the Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton fight at the end of the month, but since I can't I will has a "lap dance" in your honor (wait did I say that? Of course I did my "Pimp Focus" is always strong.)
Jay Cutler got his wish today as he was traded to the Chicago Bears for Kyle Orton and two first round draft picks (I will talk more about the compensation later). Cutler bitched his way out of Denver and now finds his way to the Windy City. I hope he is ready.
The reason being is that the city of Chicago now believes they have their "savior". The 2nd coming of Jim McMahon. The Quarterback they have been looking for, for the last twenty years in Jay Cutler. He will be expected to be the franchise and take the Bears to the Super Bowl. Not to the playoffs (which he has never done by the way), but to the Super Bowl.
I have been putting this off all day and if you have been following me on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline) you would have known that instead of putting the picks on the site. I have been looking on Wikipedia about New Edition. Studying the history of Miami Vice. Which in turned inspired me to go to the Mall and buy a Sonny Crockett/Ricardo Tubbs outfit.
But alas I have to make some picks because that is what I do. Unfortunately I have no clue who is going to win which is unusual for me because normally have strong feelings about almost every game. With that being said here are the picks proceed with caution:
#2 Michigan State 59 vs. #1 UCONN 69
#3 Villanova 74 vs. #1 UNC 75
North Carolina 80
UCONN 74
In the end I couldn't go against President Obama. He has been on a bit of a winning streak of late.
When I saw this on our partner site Yardbarker.com I just had to post this on BSO. I am not going to post all ten, but just the Top 5. By the way Miss Anderson is 6'6" by the way. I have included a couple of pictures below.
5. Girl come over here and post me up.
4. Damn girl...those legs could wrap around me twice!
3. Can I just be your man on the side? You can call me when your BF ain't actin right.
2. Now you know you a tall drink of water, and I'm thirsty!
Jay Cutler has cried, moaned, whined and bitched enough that Broncos have decide to trade before the draft April 25th.
I want to make something clear Cutler is well within his right to bitch and act like a little girl about his desire to leave Denver.
It is within his right not to return calls from his coach and owner because he wants out.
It is within his right to do whatever he needs to do to get out of a situation that he feels in wrong for him.
But here is my issue, since the beginning of time players have been asking for trades while inside of their contract and as a general rule that have been lambasted by the "bias" mainstream media. They have been called selfish, divas, not team players, manipulate and disruptive just to use a few adjectives. So why is Jay Cutler treated as a sympathetic figure?
The common reason given is that the Broncos try to trade him behind his back, but there are two major flaws in that theory:
It is always good to have friends in high places. Our partners are Yardbarker.com were covering the Playboy event this weekend and while everyone by now have seen the Andrew Bynum picture with Playmate Nicole Narain I am pretty sure no one has seen this video of Bynum getting his Hula Hoop at the Playboy Mansion with some lovely ladies.
Then again this is the type of stuff you expect out of BSO right? Of course you would have known about this before it was even posted if you were following me on Twitter:
While I would never trade in a million years my status of Bona Fide Sports Expert because my list of groupies is long (up to 6 now) I would love to a celebrity athlete just for a week. Can you imagine the type of damage I could cause?
