Major League Baseball doesn't control the list and we know the players thought it was an anonymous test, but at this point as a player wouldn't you rather all the names be released instead of being scared that it could come out at anytime?

With David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez's name being released from the list recently, basically the top home run hitters from the past 5-6 years are on the list including, Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod came out after his name was released and "sort of" admitted that he used steroids. It was big news on ESPN and in the papers for a couple of days. Commentators went on and on about how it damages the game and what the kids will think. You know what the kids think? They think they like to see Big Papi, Manny and A-Rod hit long home runs.

Yes, A-rod was booed when he first came back after his injury. But he was booed more by Yankees fans for lack of production than by opposing teams for steroids. And do you know why fans don't boo as much, because they never know when the shoe might drop on someone on their team. How do you think all those Red Sox fans feel who were chanting "A-Fraud" at A-Rod in the early season feel? I bet you they won't chant cheater at David Ortiz when he bats at Fenway. And when Big Papi goes to Yankee stadium can a Yankee fan really scream "Steroids" at him when we know of Andy Pettite and A-Rod in their own dugout.

It's funny many of those Red Sox fans who railed against Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa's home run records are the first ones to defend the Red Sox 2004 and 2007 championships. The Red Sox won those titles because of all the clutch hits of Manny and Big Papi. But we also know that when they beat the Yankees to get to their first World Series a couple players in the opposite dugout were on Steroids as well. And who knows at this point what other players were on steroids that they beat to win their title. That is why all the names should be released on the list. That way everyone knows who was who and what was what during that era.

And what about the players who weren't on Performance Enhancement Drugs? Everyone wants to believe that players like Derek Jeter and Albert Pujols are clean. They may or may not be clean. But is it fair to players like that who have to go around with the questions and whispers? I would expect that most of the players not on the list would welcome the list being released. But of course they want the list released to clear their names. But what is the benefit to those on the list?

The way the list is leaked any player who thinks he might be able to finish his career and get into the Hall of Fame before their name drops is delusional. Whoever has access to the list probably will be sure to release the name right when things are going well for that player. I see it as no coincidence that Big Papi speaking out so strong in Spring Training about being suspended for a year if caught and his name drops in the same calendar year. And yes it is was illegal in America at the time to be on these drugs, but not in Major League Baseball. In that era players felt they were being passed by as they watched the Brady Andersons' of the world hit 50 home runs. That of course doesn't make it right, but how many of us could honestly say they wouldn't have done the same thing?

Legally it is reported the Players Association can't release the names. But it is reported that Manny and Big Papi knew from the Players Association a while ago. And even if they didn't Big Papi reported that he called the Players Association after the report last week and they were able confirm to him he failed. So the Players Association probably knows every name on that list. And who really does it benefit to keep the list a secret now? There are still 100 names on that list and what makes them think that those names won't leak as well. We've had grand jury testimony leak in the Barry Bonds case and now these names are dripping out. So let's assume all the players on the list have been told or somehow know they failed. Wouldn't they rather their names be given out all at once say during Super Bowl week next year? It would be a big story for a day and then it would fade as the big bad NFL knocked it completely out the news. How much coverage would ESPN give the story with most of their staff and reporters down in Miami at the Super Bowl? They are basically criminals who know they've been on "America's Most Wanted" and are hoping they don't get caught. The names are going to come out why not get together and plan for the names to be released in a way you control and that does the least damage. Make it a one day or one season story. Instead the way it is now we could have 4-5 names leaked a year for the next 20 years. If your on that list and everytime the Breaking News crawl comes up on ESPN you have to worry that it is you. And it may not be you this time, but at this rate your time will come.

So release all the names instead of this drip by drip leak we're getting now. If you're on the list wouldn't you rather your name come out now and start the process to put it behind you. Yes, you thought it was anonymous and you're pissed at your Players Association for putting names with the results. But that is spilled milk, get over it.

Release the names Super Bowl week, a couple of apologies and saying I didn't know it was illegal or "my cousin" gave it to me and didn't tell me what it was. Say sorry, move on and we're done. It's best to let your name come out get in front of it and move on. No player who after their name being released from Jason Giambi to A-Rod has not recovered their reputation for the most part. You don't even have to give a good excuse, blame it on "your cousin" or just say "sorry" and not even say what you're saying sorry for. The fact of the matter is most fans could careless and those that do won't care as much when they realize how many players on their OWN teams were doing it as well. And then baseball can just move on from this whole era and figure out what to do about putting the players from the era who are known PED users in the Hall of Fame. ASTERISK or no ASTERISK???

Professional basketball fans across the nation were able to enjoy a pretty active Off-season for their beloved NBA. Certain franchises felt the need to improve, while others decided to pursue mediocrity for various reasons.

So, here are some things that I took from the summer that was.....

The Lakers are favored to Repeat

Until the news of Lamar Odom resigning hit the mainstream (even though BSO reported it EXCLUSIVELY), a repeat was in doubt. Yes they signed Ron Artest, but Odom has a unique skill set that separates the Lakers from the rest of the pack in the West. Artest adds a toughness that the Lakers lacked last season. Yeah the Celtics added Rasheed, but Lakers vs. Celtics should be the highest rated games this season. Nike may have to find a Celtic to do a puppet for since......

The Cavaliers dont want to win!

Ok. They added Shaq. What does that mean for the Cavs? More TV time, more antics...but not more wins. The Cavs needed another scorer. Yes, Shaq is a better center than a lot of guys in the league, but their weaknesses were revealed in High Definition during the beatdown they received from the Magic. Lebron needs a running mate. Mo Williams was a great addition, but if Lebron has an off night, who fills the void?
As for a prediction? The Cavaliers won't be Shaq's last team, and Lebron starts looking for real estate elsewhere by mid-season.....and speaking of NY....

I, nor do the Management Execs of the New York Knicks know what the franchise is doing!!!

Self Explanatory...The legacy of the Knicks has been tarnished by the lack of direction...
I mean really, which way is up for this storied franchise?...They aren't the only ones.

Houston, we have a problem

No Yao.Artest dipped.T-Mac...is T-Mac.Ariza is in town...so will the Rockets take off this season? Not sure. All signs have lead to T-Mac being traded, but who knows. The Rockets don't look like they will enter the stratosphere anytime soon...Speaking of Outer Space....

What galaxy is Starbury in?...

All jokes aside, things aren't well with Stephon Marbury. His outbursts and cries for attention have the whole sports world buzzing. A lot of the journalists that I follow on Twitter have made different statements regarding Starbury. Shaq even questioned it. So please, if you know him, get him help. Seriously. But you can only help those who help themselves...Just like the....

Orlando Magic

The Magic made great strides in wanting to get back to the Conference Finals. Going into the season, I rank them tied for first with the Celtics. Why a tie? Did you forget who their Coach is? Exactly. Vince Carter no longer has any excuses to be mediocre, and should fill the 2 spot nicely. Even with Hedo gone, the Magic still create match-up problems for the a lot of teams. Dwight Howard is the new Shaquille O'neal in regards to off-court personality, but will it transfer into on the court dominance? I think so.Things are looking pretty good in central Florida. South Florida? Thats a different story...

D.Wade is a Free Agent...Mentally

Lamar Odom resigning with LA brought joy to Laker Fans, but brought grief to D. Wade. The Heat haven't made significant moves at this point, and D. Wade is getting tired of it. He even did some recruiting of his own of Odom to help the franchise. I'm pretty sure Gabrielle Union has gotten use to Wade venting about his unhappiness. The league may have stopped him from wearing a band-aid over his eye, but I'm pretty sure he has a few over his heart. This may be pretty obvious, but im sure Wade and his agent are looking to make moves of their own right now. Wade will be out of Miami by All-star break...If they dont get Carlos Boozer. If they get Boozer? He still is out of South Beach. Adios!!! Which leads me to other people leaving or going...or whatever....

Ricky Rubio does not want to play in the NBA

He is making it more difficult than it has to be. Yes there is red tape involved, but if you wanted to be here, it wouldve been done. I think he is scared of the league to be honest. Yeah he can pass, but what did that get Jason Williams? Rubio has been on draft boards the last couple of years a lottery pick, but I just don't believe the hype. Minnesota is silly for drafting him and Flynn.

So there. Thats some of what I learned this summer. If anything else happens, stay tuned to BSO for our thoughts.

Peace.

*UPDATE*

Once again sources close to Lamar Odom are insisting a deal is done and is just waiting for Dr. Buss to sign off on it.

There has been reports there is no deal on the table and there are no neogiations ongoing.

But there was in fact a 3 year deal worth 30 million that was turned down Odom recently.

The only hold up is will Dr. Buss sign off on 4 year deal or will Odom accept 3 year deal.

Brett Favre is Jay Z. Like Hova, he has a fanatical following to whom he has given classical performances. Favre is considered by some, the greatest quarterback of all time. Yes, he has his share of haters, but his numbers are proven and the gunslinger is arguably better than most of his younger peers.

On the flipside, while no one has ever questioned his talent, throughout the years he has produced some duds, lost a few battles, and had some questionable dealings with management. But, even though it appeared harder for him to sustain his brilliance, he could drop a classic at anytime, and always commanded respect from his opponents.

The #1 thing they have in common is not being able to retire from the game they love, especially since both feel they still have something left in the tank.

Unfortunately for Favre, making a comeback is not so easy. The last time I checked, Jay Z was not being hit by 300 pound lineman while recording in studio with Kanye West.

So while Jay Z is preparing to release The Blueprint 3,("DOA" is better than the new single "Run This Town" in my opinion explaining why DOA gets all the Youtube love) Favre has decided to finally call it a career!

Jay-Z/D.O.A.(Death of Autotune) Official Music Video

Then, as soon I began to write about how in the end, he made the right choice, he tells Peter King of SI.com that he hasn't completely ruled out a comeback.

So the saga is not over and prompted me to make the following tweet (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline)

"Brett Favre will be 60 years old still saying my arm feels good if anyone needs me."

Just as Jay Z could still be recording at age sixty, don't be surprised to see Brett playing in a senior league somewhere in Hattiesburg.

If he resigns with the Lakers they are clearly the favorites to repeat. And if he decides to take the offer from the Miami Heat that could change the balance of power in the East.

Obviously, Odom would prefer to stay with the Lakers. The Miami Heat offer has been on the table the last couple of weeks and hasn't changed. The only thing differennce is D. Wade has flown to LA to try and recruit Odom, but the money has stayed the same. And reports are that Lakers owner Jerry Buss has actually dropped his initial offer.

Everyone is assuming that the exchange of Ron Artest for Trevor Ariza makes the Lakers a better team. Right now Artest is a better all-around player than Ariza, but may not be a better fit for the Lakers. Ariza knew his role as a defender and spot of 3-point shooter and didnt demand the ball fir perfectly with a team that has Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. Artest likes and needs the ball in his hands. How is he going to fit in the triangle offense? Artest is not a great stand still 3 point shooter. So thinking that Artest can take the place of both Odom and Ariza is comincal when he may not even be as good a fit for the Lakers as Ariza was.

Why does a non-starter even matter? Because Odom coming off the bench gives the Lakers a player that can play multiple positions and roles. If he leaves it takes away from the diversity the Lakers can play with and the multiple match up problems they present. Most teams don't have a player that can match up with Odom.

That description of Odom would make you think he is a top 10 player in the league. He clearly has the talent to be in that conversation but not the consistency. Odom is a player that is better suited to be the 3rd or 4th option. It is a lot easier for him to be effective when he isn't the focal point. That way he can be good at a bunch of things instead of trying to be great at a few things.

If Odom stays with the Lakers they will be the slight favorites over the San Antonio Spurs to get out of the West. No other team in the West besides the Spurs did enough to improve themselves to compete with the Lakers. If Odom doesn't resign with the Lakers the Spurs would jump over the Lakers as the favorites in the West.

Either way the road out of the West is already easier than getting out of the East. And if Odom goes to the Heat that adds another team to the list of possible contenders that already includes the Celtics, Cavs and the Magic. And who knows how a healthy Washington Wizards teams will play into the mix? The road out of the East with or without Lamar Odom will be more brutal than the West.

As Lamar Odom sits around eating candy and deciding his fate, a lot of NBA teams hope that he decides to go to the Heat. It doesn't mean the the Lakers can't repeat, because you know Kobe will do everything in his power to get that 5th ring. And if Artest accepts and plays his role properly the Lakers starting 5 is better than the one that won the title last year. But a whole lot of teams will breathe easier if and when Odom puts on that #7 Miami Heat jersey.

Today while driving home from work, listening to sports talk radio (Keep up the good work Mike Missanelli), I heard breaking news that Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson passed away. He lost his fight with melanoma. A somber, and sad way for the birds to start their training camp. He will be missed.

Jim Johnson was the brain behind a defense that has finished very highly ranked almost every year he's been calling the defensive shots. He's coached 26 pro-bowl players in his tenure. Jim Johnson is as much a legend in Philadelphia as some of the players he's coached, and he's coached some greats like Brian Dawkins, and Jeremiah Trotter. He always found a way to bring the best out of his players. That's the mark of a great coach. He used players as best as he could to their strengths. He made me believe in the blitz. I know others have done it before him, but he made me appreciate it, study it, and absolutely enjoy a great blitz.

Only a few days ago the reality of how serious his condition is set in when Sean McDermott was named officially as the defensive coordinator. Nobody expected this to happen. He was known to be tough, a fighter who was going to use the time away from the game to beat this cancer once and for all. I for one will not be able to look at the sideline the same this coming season without his presence. Every blitz I see will remind me of him. I know the chances that an Eagle's official will see this are slim, but if any of you do, tell Sean McDermott to carry on Jim's toughness. Blitz, and blitz again.

Rest in peace, Jim Johnson. If I had a vote for hall of fame, you'd have it. Your consistency in producing great defenses is only matched by your consistency in mentoring future coaches (Ron Rivera, Steve Spagnuolo) and bringing the best out of your players. My condolences go out to the Johnson family, and all of Eagles nation. All who bleed green will no doubt feel a sense of loss. The best thing that the team can do now is play his way, and play his style. Be aggressive, but thoughtful, and fight till the very end.

We don't know how Manny will react to Cotto's power but at the end of the day, Manny has yet to face anyone with power like Cotto, and I don't think the ladder has faced speed like Manny has. I know this will anger a lot of readers, but I don't think Manny can weather the brutality of Cotto's hooks. I know Manny has some crazy footwork and much improved overall boxing skills - as showcased in his most recent fights, but Cotto does an amazing job of cutting off the ring and stalking opponents.

What also puzzles me is that most people are forgetting how easy Manny is to hit. Manny has never been classified as a great defensive fighter. Anyone that saw his last three fights knows that Manny didn't get hit, but that was due to who he was fighting. But he was getting lit up in the Marquez bout.

As far as Manny goes in this match up, we have to take into consideration the opponents that his team has set up for him. In his last couple of fights, the fighters that he faced were perfect for his style and punching ability. This leads me to believe that his handlers would not put Manny into a fight where they did not have a terrific plan for victory.

There are 3 main factors in the case for Manny beating Cotto.

Number one: Cotto's ability to be cut.
The way Manny uses an unorthodox slashing offense, he's almost a lock to cut Cotto during the fight. Add to the fact that the fight features a southpaw and an orthodox fighter only adds to this.

Number two: Defense.
Cotto's defense isn't good enough to withstand the barrage of punches that will come from Manny. Many fighters who do not have the hand speed that Manny has have hit Cotto hard and often.

Number three: Speed.
Cotto takes.....a......very.....long.....time....to...throw....punches. Unless Cotto does some serious work to speed up his approach to punching, Pacquiao will be getting his blows off first and dictate the pace with his superior hand and foot speed.

It all comes down to speed, and how Cotto handles Manny's power. Manny will be landing with punches Cotto won't see coming all night. At this point in time, I am still on the fence about who I like. I will write another article closer to the fight with how I see the fight going down

Some people like boxing, some love it, but there are a few among us who have a passion for it. I have a passion for this type of fight and the hype that comes along with it. I can't wait for fight night

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush broke up. That is unfortunate hopefully it will improve his on field performance. But that is not what is important now, since she is a free agent I have decided to make an offer. Hopefully she won't take as long as Lamar Odom to make up her mind, but here are my Top 10 Reasons why Kim Kardashian should date me.

1-	I am Robert Littal.

3-	I would be much more interesting on "Follow the Kardhasians" than Reggie ever was.

4-	For the Love of Littal would get much higher ratings than For the Love of Ray J.

5-	Our sex tape will be in HD and will include a "Sex is Like Boxing" tutorial.

6-	If you gave me twenty carries I could average more than 3.7 YPC.

7-	Two Words: PIMP FOCUS.

8-	I make it partly cloudy in the strip club.

9-	Just throw it in the bag (make sure it is a Target or Marshall bag balling on a budget here).

10-	Did I mention I am ROBERT LITTAL.

The Dog Whisperer is finally free to sign with an NFL team after Roger Goddell finally laid down the hammer on him. Here are the stipulations per our friends at ProFootballTalk.com

"He is eligible to participate "without delay" in training camp, and he may play in the final two preseason games played by the team with which he signs.

And he won't be suspended to start the season in the traditional sense. Instead, he will be permitted to participate in all team activities other than games.

Vick then will be eligible for full reinstatement by Week Six.

So, as a practical matter, it's a five-game suspension. (Depending on the bye week schedule of the team that signs him, Vick could miss only four games.)

The league also announced that former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy has agreed to work as an advisor and mentor to Vick."

Do I think five (or four games depending on the bye week) is too long of a suspension?

Absolutely, but at this point no need to worry about that. This is a very important time for Michael Vick. Couple of things he needs to remember:

1-	STAY OUT OF THE STRIP CLUB
2-	SHOOT AS MANY PSAs WITH PUPPIES AS HE CAN
3-	NEVER EVER LIE TO GOODELL AGAIN
4-	TRY TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE
5-	ACCEPT ANY ROLE YOUR NEW TEAM GIVES YOU

We have to be realistic here when Michael Vick got into all this trouble people were already questioning his skills as a quarterback. Great athlete and very electrifying player, but that didn't change the fact he was regressing as QB.

No matter how great of an athlete you are as a QB you have to be able to be accurate and smart while making plays in the pocket.

Your physical gifts aren't as important as your "mental" gifts.

Luckily for Vick while he was making license plates the NFL stole the "Wildcat" from college football which automatically gives him an easy position to start off with and be successful.

It is ironic that Vick basically started the "wildcat" offense in Atlanta.

I think the fans of wherever he goes needs to realize that Michael Vick can be an "asset" to your team, but don't expect him to be a "savior".

Doesn't know what this means for the NFL season and the Washington Redskins if anything.

Have you ever read something and it sent chills down your spine? When I saw this tweet from now deceased former welterweight champion Vernon Forrest I felt sick.

My first thought was maybe it was just one of those fake twitter pages.

A lot of people start accounts under celebrities or athletes names just because they don't have anything better to do.

The page does not have a lot of followers (only 242 at the time I am writing this) so my first thought was it was a fake until I saw a tweet from July 23rd.

I will not post the picture associated with the Tweet, but it stated:

That is when it got really eerie because as we know now it was his godson that was in the car with him when he was murdered.

One of the best ways to tell a fake Twitter page from a real one is the ability of the "real" person to post pictures that obviously a fake could not.

As someone who has experienced a lot of Déjà vu in his lifetime, I do not dismiss the power of the subconscious mind.

Maybe it was his mind warning him of what was to come or maybe it was just a freak coincidence either way it is very weird.

RIP Vernon I really wish this was a dream that didn't come true.
