But when a big man comes off a huge knee surgery successfully, I don't know how good of an idea it is to go ahead and guarantee the 'ship for the Boston Celtics next season. And the next season. That's some definite confidence. Maybe I'm being too critical, maybe I'm not....but, really? Did he he see his team in the Playoffs this year? Yes, there was good. But oh boy, was there bad.
I think KG may need to slow his role, or maybe even just look at his team and what's going on in the Eastern Conference.
G - Rajon Rondo
G - Ray Allen
F - Paul Pierce
F - Glen Davis
C - Kendrick Perkins
Off the bench:
Eddie House, Brian Scalabrine, Stephon Marbury, Tony Allen, Mikki Moore
Injuries: Leon Powe, Kevin Garnett, Gabe Pruitt
Leon Powe would've helped this team this year, but it seems like he's dealing with an injury every year. How big of an impact will he have for the Celtics next year? With Kevin Garnett returning, and Glen Davis becoming a solid big man, does Powe even have a place on this team anymore?
Boston writers would poke fun at the fact that he would look over to his bench during games in the Playoffs to make a substitution, and whenever his eyes came to Mikki Moore or Tony Allen, he would shudder in fear of putting them in the game.. after that, you have Brian Scalabrine and Marbury. Odds of Steph coming back to the Celtics this year? Not high. And Brian Scalabrine made a little over $3 mil this year, and will make $3.5 mil next season. He's in Boston for one more year, how productive has he been?
This off-season, Eddie House (with a player option), Marbury and Mikki Moore are non-restricted free agents. Moore and Marbury are probably gone. Will Eddie House pull a James Posey and leave for another team? House rarely stays on one team for long periods of time. He has his ring, he just might get more money elsewhere to do what he does best...shoot.
Glen Davis and Leon Powe are restricted, so Boston will probably bring one if not both of them back.

But after that, how good are the Boston Celtics? Allen and Pierce are only getting older. Pierce has slowed down in terms of speed, but he's still putting up his numbers. Last year, defensively he was pretty good. But he's has slowed down considerably. And our good friend Jesus...he'll continue to hit jumpshots, but he's at over 1000 games played in his career. At what point do we see Ray Ray slow down? He'll still hit that jumpshot, that's a definite, but defensively and physically, how many 82 (+ 16 more wins) seasons can he do effectively?
It's also important to point out in the first round, Chicago guards Ben Gordon and John Salmons averaged 42.4 points combined against the Boston wingmen. In the semis, Orlando's three piece guard rotation of Hedo Turkoglu, Courtney Lee and Mickael Pietrus dropped 34.6 a game on them. A big room of contention here is that without Kevin Garnett, the defense slipped because there was not a big man in the paint to block shots. Against Chicago and Orlando, most of those points were jumpshots. How effective does that make Kevin Garnett against these teams?
Yes, KG would've gotten his points, but wait a minute. A successful knee surgery never translates to good play. Remember how good Kenyon Martin was, and could have been? Or Antonio McDyess? Chris Webber? Garnett is 1100 games into his career. Can that body handle a repaired knee and bring him back to that dominant level? Possibly, but historically unlikely.
But worse case scenario, he's 75% of what he was...Ray Allen and Paul Pierce play just as well as they did this season, and Rondo and company slowly get better. That's why KG thinks they can dominate for 2 more years, guaranteed.
Orlando is only getting better. Cleveland will only get better...or maybe they won't. But Shaq is coming to Cleveland, right? With Boozer supposedly on his way to Detroit, Detroit will be a team to mess with. Chicago is slowly rising to greatness, as is Atlanta. What about Philadelphia? Do they become studly with Elton Brand fully healthy? Gilbert Arenas...welcome back?
Oh yeah, and then there's Orlando.
And a whole bunch of free agents!
I think it's too soon to start guaranteeing things, the Eastern Conference landscape will change significantly, but standing today...Boston isn't even amongst the top 2 of the East to win a title next season, and I can't even put them in my top 5 in the league to win it all.
But Maybe Garnett knows something we all don't know. Maybe Allen Iverson is going to come off the bench for Boston next season. Maybe that trade rumor for Amare Stoudemire will happen. Maybe a Quentin Richardson, Lamar Odom or Ron Artest will come to Boston. So much can change in three months time...but KG still started the talking.
Guess he couldn't wait.
These NBA Finals are going to be good, but this off-season is going to be unbelievably incredible.

I didn't hear the talk from KG yet so I can't really say much about that prior to reading the quote.
Buuuuuuuuuttttttt, his knee injury was nowhere near as severe as KMart, Stat, or McDyess, so questioning whether or not he comes back from that is a stretch, I'm betting that he'll be back in domination mode due to the extended rest.
And as far as his effeciveness on D in these series against Chi and Orlando if he would of been playing they would have had the defensive presence down low so they could have played more aggressive on the perimeter. So the open jumpshots wouldn't have been as common in those games
Ok KG here is what I can promise. I promise you don't come back 100% and Allen and Pierce keep getting older. I also promise your team will be lucky to get past the 2nd round next year. Orlando and Cleveland are too good.
Your career is over
you MFs above can s*ck Kevin's d!ck! That's all I gotta say, KG will prove everyone wrong next season.
