NBA Commish David Stern and partner Stu Jackson are on the clock for the above video that clearly shows what I would call an assault. Orlando Magic Center Dwight Howard has many talent. He does impersonations, commericals, can dance with the best of them even starting to get a little left hand hook shot working for him. What we didn't know was that he incorperated a vicious MMA-worthy elbow in the reportoire.
I watched in amazement after seeing that this was an intentional elbow and wondered how he was still on the court. All I can guess was that the ref didn't have a good vantage point which is the reason he only got a technical. Of course i'm trying to give the refs the benefit of the doubt here. Look Howard is a likeable player and I guess he just got caught up in the passion of the game and just reacted. That being said there's no way he should be on the flight to Philadelphia for game 6.
The problem with the elbow was that it was intentionally done and what makes it even worse is that it was after the play. It's an obvious easy call for us at home to make. Of course if you're making it objectively. Reason being is that you can't judge whether a suspension is warranted by how well the victim withstood the infraction. Dalembert definitely just ate the elbow like it was just another day at the office, no one will ever accuse him of having a glass jaw. Kudos to him for not retaliating, he's truly better than most of us. But ladies and gents this is what you call a snuff or a sneak attack to put it layman's terms.
David Stern and Stu Jackson now have the floor. So do they ignore the 'bow and just fine him essentially sending the message that it's cool to purposely elbow a player in the head because he's getting on your nerves? They can't possibly say that it's the same as talking greezy to or about the refs. Can they? Or do they take the M.O.B. approach... "Money Over Bows" and deem the starpower of Dwight Howard too strong suspend and risk losing him in the 2nd round? As much as Stern talks about league image and what type of clothes players are wearing to the games, it'll be interesting to see what the verdict will be. I think it's an easy call but remember Sterns an 'Ol Lawyer and when moneys involved they have a way to make you forget about common sense and word things a certain way to justify decision one way or the other.
We all know the rules aren't consistently enforced in the league but watching that video again (Damnnnn!) can they really ignore this one. We'll see

no after the way they screwed up the suns spurs series a few years back there is no way he gets away
yo O that look like a shot to the temple too. you right Greg
That bow was intentional....if they don't suspend him, that won't be the last time we will see elbows thrown in this playoffs and we will see brawls on the court. And with the Magic winning last night, the league might want to see 7 games anyway to help Orlando out financially!
Howard and Rondo both should get suspended, but wont.
this has become a little girls league that was nothing
Suspend him and fine him! 'Nuff said.
I got clotheslined in mid-air and barely got a foul call period.
lol @ these people overreacting at what was just a little tustle in a very competitive atmosphere. Howard did it, got caught by the ref, and was penalized accordingly; nuff said. Seriously ya'll need get over the Ron Artest and Dennis Rodman days. Back when the Pistons were badboys something like that wouldnt even get a second look.
What is the matter with you wimps. Nothing makes a game more interesting than putting a little WWE in the NBA. I'm not saying it should happen all the time, but this is a contact sport. I've been unintentionally scratched, kicked and pushed to the ground. I've also been called a name or two, intentionally. This is basketball, this is entertainment, THIS IS ABOUT THE BENJAMINS! Don't suspend Dwight Howard because I want to see how the Sixers defend him. I'm pretty sure, he'll get some extra attention.
FYI: Did you see the lick to the nose that King James received? Did you see Dwyane Wade's aggressiveness against the Hawks? PLAYOFF BASKETBALL IS GREAT!
