"You could tell Michael had smoked before," then "He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do. He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits. Michael ended up getting a little paranoid, though, because before too long he looked like he was nervous and ran out of the place." Those were the words of someone close to Phelps, close enough to recieve a contact from the marijuana. Now I'm not the brightest star in the sky but I knew about when Randy Moss was scrutinized for admitting but not getting caught. Remember the bottle that Michael Vick had in the airport that was used to hide jewelry? How about the countless NBA players that are thrown under the bus for marijuana usage that are suspended, arrested, burned by the media, and, performance in question? What makes Michael Phelps any better? Because was in the olympics? What puts him above other athletes that his weed use gets thrown out the window, he apologizes and we forgive him? I've said it before and you will hear me again; If your white, it's all right.
Michael Phelps is a phenomenal athlete. We have to be honest with ourselves here. As a matter of fact let's pretend that Michael Phelps were black? What if Usain Bolt were caught (which he probably does smoke, being from Jamaica and all)? What would have been his consequences? Hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm.............
First would have came the ESPN Outside the Lines segment where people he believed to be his friends told multiple stories of past weed use. ESPN would have dug up EVERYTHING! Then media outlets would have shown the found evidence and showed it every time someone named Michael did anything; Michael Redd shooting a 3 pointer, Michael Turner scores a touchdown, Michael Crabtree entering the NFL Draft, and so on and so forth. He would be interviewed everytime he comes out his home answering the same questions; "Are you sorry?" "How do you think the kids that look up to you feel about you now?" "Did you smoke during the Olympics?" "Is that why you ate so much during the Olympiad?". He would be forced to apologize on countless occassions. The olympic board commitee would put his Olympic performance in question ultimately stripping him of his medals. He would lose MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND EVERY ENDORSEMENT DEAL HE HAD. He may even been banned for life and deemed a disgrace to the red, white, and blue.
But let's be serious yall. This is America. A country where the color of your skin matters. A country where Michael Phelps gets backed by his sponsors immediately after this happens (speedo). A country that can influence the International Olympic Committee to forgive and forget without punishment. A country that has divided people since its genesis. And most importantly to me, blinded black people. And at the end of this cover up a black person somewhere out there doesn't see anything wrong with Michael Phelps smoking weed. They wouldn't be upset that its not being placed on the surface or scandalized repeatedly as it would a black or hispanic athlete. They would not understand the racial aspect of this and how stupified we are as a people thanks to Mtv, VH1, BET, and the Viacom machine. All they would be worried about is, "What was he smoking on, fam?"
WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE

If we are athletes we cant smoke
we smoke every day homie
I'm black and I don't care that Michael Phelps smokes. Does that mean I am asleep? 99% of these athletes are using recreational or enhancement drugs. The Media pushed him as the "All American Boy" but in reality he is closer to cheech and chong. Is the media coverage fair? no, but that's reality.
Hey Maurice! You read my mind. Great blog entry! I don't think there are going to be any consequences for Michael Phelps. I'll give this story two days tops, and it will find its way under somebodies mattress or filed under someone's desk under of no consequence.
No big deal
