Super Bowl XLIII: Toni's Debut

I can see how the Cardinals make a great Cinderella story. They are one of three teams left in the NFC to make a Super Bowl appearance (Saints and Lions remaining). They accomplished some victories that sometimes seem miraculous. But when the statistics from the Carolina and Philadelphia games are broken down, the question becomes how much is owed to the Cardinal wins verses the self destruction of the other teams?

In the game against the Panthers, Delhomme threw five interceptions, completed only 17 out of 34 passes and lost a fumble in the first half. The Eagles defensive line could be likened to a string of NFL trademarked paper dolls for the way the Cardinals were able to run through it. Individual Eagles were penalized for everything from false starts to holding. Donovan McNabb threw the ball poorly in the first half. In short, the Cardinals took advantage of the other team's miscues and won those games.

This year's Super Bowl will be exciting. I am looking forward to everything from the pre-game, The Boss at halftime, the game itself and the trophy presentation. This year's Lombardi will be hoisted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite the fact that the Steelers have more players with Super Bowl experience than the five on the Cardinal roster, here are Toni's Top Ten reasons for a Steelers victory:

Number 10: The Pittsburgh Steelers have better looking players on their roster including Coach Mike Tomlin.

Number 9: There will be more Terrible Towels.

Number 8: The Pittsburgh Steelers have the best uniforms in the NFL.

Number 7: EA Sports (Madden 09): Predicts the Steelers will beat the Cardinals.

Number 6: Troy Polamalu

Number 5: James Harrison, Lamar Wooley, Larry Foote, Jr.

Number 4: Best Defense in the NFL

Number 3: Ranked 2nd in the NFL for total yard per game 244.0

Number 2: Ranked 1st in the NFL for rushing yards allowed 44.0

Here are my top 10 reasons why the Cardinals will win the Super Bowl, granted some are in jest, but overall, it's the truth even if some points have NOTHING to do with the game. Karmically, anything impacts a team's play.

If the Cardinals D can keep the Steelers to under 30 they can win, if the Steelers D gets more than two turnovers and keeps Arizona to under 21 points, they will lose. It's an explosive Cardinal Offense against a dominating Steeler Defense.

But on the other side of the ball you have an good but young and inexperienced Cardinal Defense against an aging and o.k. Steeler Offense. Defenses can win championships, but if there's NO offense, you can get passed on for 300 yards and lose on field goals.
