- Mainstream sports fans like their (Black) athletes to be seen and not heard. Players like Marvin Harrison (guns) and Larry Fitzgerald (assault), are never vilified in the media as potential team killers while maligned players like Terrell Owens have never seen the inside of a jail. I guess as long as you keep your mouth shut and hand the ball to an official after scoring, you're a good person.
- Charles Barkley is one of the more relevant voices in sports when it comes to outside issues like race and opportunity. But he is slowly destroying his credibility with incidents like the most recent DUI charge. Unlike the Michael Jordan's of the world, Sir Charles is willing to speak up for what is right, but he may lose his platform if he can't control himself.
- The Yankees are going to regret spending $435 million in free agent contracts during the offseason. They need to count their blessings that there is no true salary cap. And they will live to regret giving C.C. Sabathia and Mark Texiera a contract lasting more than 3 years.
- I've come to the conclusion that Black coaches are not going to get a legitimate shot at the best Division I-A jobs until a federal lawsuit is filed against NCAA member schools. As long as boosters are in charge without accountability, this situation will never improve. A Rooney-rule has never been needed more.
- Speaking of lawsuits, there will never be a true playoff system until someone with plenty of money decides to challenge this nonsense in court. Maybe the government could save everyone time and money by threatening to revoke the tax-exempt status of these bowls unless they agree to help create a playoff system. I wouldn't care if they incorporated the bowls into a playoff system as long as they put one together that doesn't exclude great teams like the 2008 Utah Utes.
- The Giants are ripe for an upset loss to the Eagles in the Divisional playoffs. The Eagles are playing like they have nothing to lose and Donovan McNabb is playing for a new contract. You can book it.
- Over a decade since the explosion of Tiger Woods on the world golf scene and we are still waiting for the next Black superstar golfer to emerge.
- The Lakers are the best team in the NBA and it's not even close. The Celtics were built for a one-year championship run and KG can retire with a ring on his finger. Just talking about adding Starbury has doomed the Celts into falling short this postseason. New Orleans isn't quite ready yet and Cleveland is probably the biggest obstacle between L.A. and the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
- Surprise! The NHL All-Star break is almost here. I'm willing to bet no one could guess more than one or two starters on either side. Or even where the game will be played.

Charles just wanted to get his freak on
