Pink Ribbon I.jpgToday college basketball lost an exordinary lady and great coach. I first became familiar with Ms. Kay Yow watching the ESPY Awards when she became the first recipient of the Jimmy Valano Award.

Although I follow men's sports much more than women, I have come to know the powerhouses of their game like Pat Summitt, Geno Auriemma and C. Vivian Stringer. If asked I could tell you that when I was in high school, I remembered that Old Dominion won alot of women's basketball NCAA Championships. Since then, a great deal with regards to women's sports has changed. Ms. Yow and others are responsible for those changes. I do however wish to pay my respects to Ms Yow. Today, sports looks different without her smile and strength from which to draw upon. I wish her family and all of the young women and men whose lives she touched and changed well.

I would also ask the viewers of this site to get involved in finding the cure for cancer Approximately 41,000 women a year die of breast cancer--that is 112 women per day. In memory of Ms. Yow, I ask that you join me in a walk, run or some other form of service that address this issue. Become well learned about this disease. Your efforts may save you or someone you love.

Peace.
