I have a good friend I call him "C-Payne" also known as "Killa" (he isn't literally a killer just in case you were wondering). He is a young guy early 20's very smart, very bright has a lot going for himself. Good job, lots of friends, loving girlfriend and a family who cares about him a lot. One problem though with Killa he has been known to get himself in situations that in retrospect he has no business being in. A few months back Killa accidently shot himself. When I heard the news I just knew once again he had gotten himself in a bad situation. Once it was determined he would be ok (he has accidently shot himself in the hand) I asked him what happened. He explained that his gun went off while he was trying to readjust it in the car while on the way to the grocery store with his girlfriend and a friend of his. At this point I chastised Killa on how he could be so stupid. You have your whole life in front of you why do you need to take a gun to the grocery store, a loaded gun at that. You could have killed yourself, your girlfriend or your friend. What It really necessary? Was it that serious? What are you trying to prove? Killa is like a bother to me, but at that point he was an idiot.
This brings me to Plaxico Burress. While Chad Ocho Cinco and T.O. get all the press for being the poster boys for "diva" or "disruptive" wide receivers Burress just this year has did more than Chad and T.O. have done their entire careers. The latest incident being an "accidental" shooting in the club late last night. Burress who has already been suspended, benched and fined this year for multiple transgressions now shoots himself in the leg possibly ending his season. A couple of things jump out at me:
1- How did he get a loaded gun in the club in the first place:
I know he is a celebrity athlete and what not, but seriously loaded guns in clubs are just a recipe for disaster. Just the fact he was able to get the gun in the club is a failure on the club's part.
2- Why is Plaxico rolling around with a loaded gun anyway:
Guns and athletes don't mix. If you feel the need to carry a loaded gun around then maybe you should stay at home. Just a suggestion.
3- If you have a hamstring injury why are you at the club:
Not trying to preach or tell anyone how to live there life but considering the type of season Plax has had this just wasn't a good idea. Stay at home and get healthy.
It makes you wonder what is going on inside of Plaxico's mind. He has been nothing but a big pain in the ass this year and it is obvious similar to Jeremy Shockey the Giants don't need him to be successful. There are no excuses for his behavior and I would not bit be shock if we never see him in a Giant's jersey ever again. If that was to happen there would be no one to blame but himself. You have to have accountability for your actions. He has the type of life most people would dream of and considering the economy and the financial situation most people are in, it is frustrating to see someone piss away their future.
As for "Killa" after his incident he came to the conclusion that he had a lot to live for and turned around his life for the better. I am very proud of him and hopefully Plaxico comes to that same realization before it is too late.
