The NFL Week Seven Top Seven - Bye Bye, Boys! Hello, Titans!

I hate that! You write and write and write, and then you get a breaking news alert that Roy Williams is now part of America’s Team. Wasn’t this online betting favorite strong enough? Roy Williams has averaged 46.4 yards per game, and it’s certainly not his talent that is in question. A motivated Roy Williams at receiver has all but cemented Dallas’s place at the top of the NFC for NFL betting faithful. For now, however, things do not look good at all.

1. Tennessee Titans (5-0 ATS/SU)
When you’re the only undefeated team in the league, and you’ve been rewarding your betting faithful through and through, you get the recognition. So what if they have Kerry Collins? With Chris Johnson, an absurdly strong defense that allows only 95.8 yards against on the ground per game, and a ball hawking secondary, these are an army of Titans that you will remember.

Next Game: Tennessee -8 vs. Kansas

2. Buffalo Bills (4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS)
The oddsmakers aren’t asleep on Buffalo any longer, and it’s their betting backers that might suffer. Still this team isn’t “sexy” enough to pile up monster spreads. The loss to Arizona was a wash considering that Trent Edwards wasn’t in the game to begin with. That being said, this team’s defense has to have a bigger presence for the Bills to continue their status atop the Furious Seven.

If you want a more blatant litmus test of the Bills, then look no further than a proving grounds gram for both San Diego and Buffalo at Ralph Wilson this weekend. Buffalo is trying to upset an AFC giant that is 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 home games.

Next Game: San Diego vs. Buffalo

3. Dallas Cowboys (4-2 SU, 2-4 ATS)
This is probably the last time we’ll see Dallas in the Furious Seven. Romo is the heart and soul of this team and now Pacman Jones is suspended, Brad Johnson is the new quarterback and they have a BIG personality entering an already volatile locker room with Roy Williams in town. Hell, now they have two Roy Williams! What do they do in this situation? Is it the middle initial on the back of the jersey too?

Dallas is 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games and have turned in to a betting nightmare for all the degenerates that bet on Dallas Cowboys’ football. Despite this, they are still the favorites to win the NFC Championship in our NFL futures, but they might be a stay-away for the rest of the regular season. Keep an eye out.

Next Game: Dallas -10.5 vs. St. Louis

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1 SU, 2-3 ATS)
This is another team that has been wrecking havoc on their betting investors. Now that they have had a week to lick their wounds, the Steelers return to the gridiron to take on their hated Bengals’ rivals. Is it time for the Steel Curtain to rise again? If Pittsburgh has any hope of living up to the expectations set upon them, let’s hope so. A near double-digit spread on the road is not a good way to kick things off after a bye week. Buyer beware.

Next Game: Pittsburgh -9.5 vs. Cincinnati

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2 SU, 5-1 ATS)
I don’t know how I feel about Jeff Garcia at the helm again, but the Bucs sure don’t seem to mind. The Bucs lost their season opener to the Saints, but since have gone on a 4-1 SU streak, beating the spread every single time. The defense is the key here, ranking third overall with 16.2 points against per game. The real secret? An unselfish running assault shared between Warrick Dunn and Earnest Graham. Can we get these guys some love?

Next Game: Seattle vs. Tampa -10.5

6. San Diego Chargers (3-3 SU, 3-2-1 ATS)
Slowly but surely, the Chargers are pulling themselves out of the dungeon. With 29.7 points per game, 239.8 passing yards and a 12-2-1 ATS record over their last 15 games, the Chargers are evolving in to a major betting play.

Philip Rivers has come in to his own this season and is putting up monster numbers no matter who his receivers are. The running game is still a tad bit questionable, and the defense has had a nasty habit of disappearing. If they do that this weekend, the Chargers could disappear from our thoughts as legitimate Superbowl contenders as well.

Next Game: San Diego vs. Buffalo EVEN

7. Indianapolis Colts (3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS)
It took a few miracles, some luck and a bit of nasty, but the Colts are back! They’ve weathered the storm needed to get Peyton back in the saddle, and now the Colts are ready to storm off in to the sunset. Or are they?

Joseph Addai and Mike Hart are injured, leaving the rushing attack in the familiar hands of Dominic Rhodes. If Rhodes can tear through a suspiciously weak Green Bay rush defense this weekend, I’ll have zero questions about the potential of this offense. That defense, however, desperately needs Dwight Freeney to step up and be the presence he’s being paid to be. The addition of DT McCargo from Buffalo may help.
