Public Service Announcement: I am not saying all black men smoke weed, or like white women.

Marijuana and Vagina are the two biggest culprits in most crimes committed by black athletes. If you dissect the majority of the stories that are posted here, or on any mainstream media outlet, if you took a page out of David Caruso's book and got deep down into what caused the incident, those two things are somehow tied up. 90% of the time.

WEED

For whatever reason, a lot of people enjoy weed, not just athletes. But this is a sports website, so the athletes are in the proverbial guillotine right now. With the leagues nowadays carrying stiff substance abuse policies, why bother? Marijuana is still illegal. So not only do you violate the law of the land, but the rules set in forth by your employer.

What a lot of these athletes fail to consider is that they are not regular cats no more. Regular cats can get away with smoking. But the athlete has to consider that if you get caught, which will 99% of the time be by the authorities, it will make the news. Not just your local affiliate but it will reach the Associated Press in a few minutes. Athletes who are choosing to partake of the sticky, don't think about the risk or the math associated with it. A dime bag can cost you five figures of your salary. Last time I checked, that investment is worse than a 401K tied into Enron.

Some things you are suppose to or should want to give up once you get to the next level. Why jeopardize your record, your paycheck, and reputation to get high? Peer pressure is one thing, but being a victim of what you deem "culture" is outrageous.

Not only were the first rounders found with marijuana, but had women in the room as well. A lot of times, these two vices go hand and hand. All men think about it. It makes the world go 'round. But in the game of professional sports(and hell, life for regular people) be a matter of life and death. According to reports out of Jacksonville, Richard Collier was waiting for some females outside of their home when he was shot. No Collier didnt think that his night would land him in ICU, but if the reports are true, he was blinded by the "sunshine". I have been apart of, and witnessed numerous "deals" being negotiated after a night out. The talks go a little like this:

Time: 2:30am Place: The Club

Male: So what you getting into later on?
Female: I dont know, what did you have in mind?
Male: Im trying to see wassup with you?
Female: Oh really? Why is that?
Male: Come on girl, stop playin'. Im feelin' what we had going on tonight. No need to stop now.
Female: I guess you right.
Male: So wassup?
Female: Well, I guess we can do something...
Male: So you want me to come thru?
Female: Yeah, thats cool. I rode with my homegirls so Ill call you when we get home.

And so on and so forth. Its business. You are a consumer. Trying to obtain a product or service. And like most products, there may not be a warning. I touched on this in my article regarding Dennis Northcutt, but Vagina is costly. In this day in age of blogs and paparazzi, its hard to creep. Folks are interested in human relations. Its natural. But again, do you let it dictate your life or control the urge to let it get you into trouble. And by being a professional athlete, you have a buffet of booty to select from.

Truth be told, the only reason why Reggie Bush is relevant right now is because of his boo Kim Kardashian. Not because she is a great catch, because she is not, but he done wifed up a chick that has a sex tape with one of the top 5 lamest black celebrities on earth, and thats Ray J.

I'm not expecting Athletes to live up to the unreal expectation of being Saints and not indulging in what they feel are important to them. What I am expecting is that they keep in mind all that is at stake when you choose to let them be the source of incidents that tarnish your legacy.
