Kobe's no MJ, and that's not a bad thing

I must admit that I have gone back and forth when comparing Kobe Bryant to Michael Jordan. With the completion of the finals almost a week old, it is more apparent to me than ever that Kobe Bryant is not Michael Jordan. But you won't find my saying that with any great amount of joy or venom. It is hardly an insult, as some national media seem to believe, to say that Kobe Bryant is not Michael Jordan.

Similar to watching Tiger Woods dominate the US Open on 1 leg, Jordan gave us moments of greatness that are etched into our hearts and minds. So when someone is compared to Jordan, the comparison does not stop at a comparison between the 2 players from a skill issue. It extends to moments in time that a given player gave you.

So what? Kobe Bryant is no Michael Jordan. He is still a darn good, check that, great basketball player. He is the best player in the game today and has been so for quite some time now. In fact, name me another shooting guard in the history of the game that you would rather have. To me, saying Kobe Bryant is no Jordan says a heck of a lot more about Michael Jordan as a player than Kobe Bryant. Think about how good Kobe is on most nights. This is the same guy who against the San Antonio Spurs went almost scoreless in the first half and then went bananas in the second half; bringing the Lakers back from a 20 point deficit to win a game.

So when you think about such performances and realize that he still isn't MJ's equal, is that an insult to Kobe or does that demonstrate just how good Michael Jordan was? So instead of using MJ to somehow try to insult Kobe Bryant as a player, I'm here to state the obvious. Kobe Bryant is so good that he made us think a little bit didn't he?

He made you ask the question that you felt you would never ask. We found out our answer against in the finals where the Celtics made Kobe Bryant look human. However, dwelling on the answer dismisses the most important factor of them all; he made us ask the question. Just because the answer was a resounding no doesn't make Kobe Bryant any less a player. But for a minute, a guy who everyone loves to hate had us wondering if what we were seeing was something that we thought we'd never see: a guy who was challenging Jordan's mantel.

So again Kobe Bryant is no Michael Jordan, but he made you ask the question didn't he?

Might as well call this KOBEsportsonline

Jordan had to get through the Pistons

If u look at basketball now and then the Basketball world is harder for kobe then it waz for jordan an the eastern conference is alwayz the hardest cost if kobe was on the east like lebron, kobe would of already won many championships on da west there its just to hard to do it by urself an in da championship the team was to scared they didnt believe that they could beat the boston an paul waznt strong enough to handle the physical play he needs to get more buck an also i think we should try to get a nother big man an trade odam an gusal for Amare Stoudemire or trade so1 else 2 get try to get bruce bowen because we need more defence

Kobe is no Michael Jordan, as far as it being different back then, yea teams actually played tough Defense back then Jordan had to earn everything. Kobe just does not have it where Jordan did, between the ears there was nobody better. Throw Jordan in his prime on this years Laker Team and he would have tormented the Celtics.
